What is our idea?
Tomcat Academy is a one-make series of 80" trials cars,
designed to create a level playing field where success is determined by driver
skill, technique, and experience rather than budget or horsepower. Our aim is
to build a welcoming motorsport community that encourages sportsmanship,
teamwork, and the development of new talent. Whether you are new to off-road
competition or an experienced driver looking for a new challenge, Tomcat
Academy provides an accessible route into motorsport. Tomcat Academy vehicles
will be available to buy or rent, giving competitors the flexibility to get
involved in the way that suits them best. The first championship will launch in
Spring 2027, bringing together drivers, families, and enthusiasts for a new
generation of off-road competition.
What is Trialling?
Trialling is a form of off-road motorsport where drivers
navigate their vehicles through challenging sections of terrain, focusing on
skill, control, and precision rather than outright speed. Each section presents
a different challenge, testing both the driver and the vehicle. The terrain can
include everything from steep climbs and descents to technical manoeuvres
through mud, water, rocks, and tight obstacles. Success in trialling comes from
careful planning, vehicle control, and understanding the best approach for each
challenge. It’s a sport where experience and driver ability play a bigger role
than horsepower, making it the perfect introduction to off-road motorsport.
Build, Learn, Compete!
From the age of 14 all the way through to 114, anyone can
experience the thrill of driving a Tomcat Academy car. Tomcat Academy is
designed to make getting into motorsport accessible for everyone. We provide
training, guidance and support throughout your journey, helping you develop
your driving skills and get the most from your vehicle. More than just a race series, Tomcat Academy
is the perfect family project. We supply the rolling frame and chassis,
providing the ideal foundation to build your own 80" trials vehicle. The
rest is up to you. Whether you’re fitting suspension in your garage with a
friend, learning new engineering skills, or teaching the next generation how to
weld engine mounts, the Academy gives you the opportunity to build something
unique while gaining valuable knowledge along the way. With support from the
Tomcat community behind you, you’ll have the guidance and expertise to create
your own competition-ready vehicle and become part of the future of off-road
motorsport.
